Janelle Jones

“The Modern Marriage After Kids” Pre baby marriage: that comfortable sexy high heel shoe. Post baby marriage: the well worn slipper.

If you’ve ever wondered…

  • Why am I struggling to feel a connection with my partner?
  • I feel like we are always arguing about who’s job isharder. Is it a contest now?
  • What do I do when I don’t feel like myself anymore…will I ever recognize myself again?
  • Is it normal to feel like you don’t have anything in common?

Janelle is a registered clinical counsellor who specializes in individual and couples counselling. When her son was born in 2016 Janelle took a step away from her private practice to pursue motherhood head on. Following the birth of her daughter in 2017, she began to realize that the women and men in her parenthood support community were continually facing the same common difficulties. Many identified with feeling burdened by the mental load of balancing competing household/relationship/work and family responsibilities. Others felt they had lost their identities along the road of becoming a mother or parent. With these complex challenges came extraordinary guilt, energy depletion, loss of patience and in some cases depression and anxiety. It was then that Janelle founded Modern Mom & Marriage Counselling and committed herself to helping mothers and couples find the joy and balance in parenting.

Danielle WILLIAMS

“How to Keep a Pulse on Your Finances During Motherhood”

If you’ve ever wondered…

  • How do I get comfortable with investing?
  • Should I keep my finances separate from my spouse?
  • How do I find a financial advisor I will trust?
  • What does a financial plan look like?
  • How do I teach my kids about money?

Did you know 80% of household consumption decisions are made by moms? With this huge power comes great responsibility. And it’s often a stressful one. Mom’s are often left in the dark with financial decisions because they are not always the chief breadwinners. And the financial industry tends to over-complicate decisions and products and plans and this creates even *more* stress. Danielle is very good at simplifying financial topics. She will  lead us in her discussion on how every Domestic CEO/ Mom can gain control of their family finances, and feel calm and engaged while doing so.

Danielle will teach us five things you need to do NOW (including a fast and easy way to budget), how to be brave and invest like a pro, how to teach your kids about finances, how to talk to your partner about finances, and how to feel calm when you think about your finances.

Danielle began in financial services directly after university. She quickly progressed from a trading assistant to financial advisor to branch manager to director at a  multi-national investment firm. She is the recent co-author in two parenting books. Danielle is is a mom to two (baby) girls and because of that, is even more obsessed with financial literacy. She says: when women know their financial options, it brings them power, hope, and esteem. It gives them freedom!

Dr. Hillary Smith

“The importance of post baby nutrition for moms”

I believe the strength of naturopathic medical care lies in its ability to treat the root cause of a patient’s concern. This not only achieves symptomatic relief, it allows a patient to reach a higher state of health and prevents further disease. By understanding the underlying physiology of a patient’s medical condition, along with taking the time to learn about the whole person, I create treatment plans using various modalities such as acupuncture, clinical nutrition, homeopathy, lifestyle and diet management, and physical medicine.
